Syensqo has entered into a strategic partnership with Bucci Composites, an Italian engineering and composite manufacturing specialist, to accelerate high-volume production of automotive composite components through the integration of advanced prepreg materials and Direct Press Forming (DDF) technology.

Under the agreement, Bucci Composites will license Syensqo's proprietary DDF technology and collaborate on material qualification to support faster and more cost-efficient manufacturing of structural composite parts for the automotive sector.

The partnership is aimed at meeting growing demand from automotive manufacturers for scalable composite production capable of supporting structural body components, battery enclosures, exterior body panels, and other lightweight applications. By combining Syens qo's prepreg material systems with DDF processing, the companies intend to improve manufacturing productivity while maintaining the mechanical performance required for vehicle structures.

"Licensing Syensqo's DDF technology and working together on material qualification allows us to strengthen our capabilities and address OEMs' increasing need for higher-volume production of structural parts, bodywork components, battery enclosures, and many other applications," said Andrea Bedeschi, Managing Director at Bucci Composites.

DDF technology enables rapid compression molding of prepreg composites, helping reduce production cycle times and supporting the transition of advanced composites from niche applications to higher-volume vehicle manufacturing. The process is designed to improve manufacturing efficiency while enabling the production of lightweight structural components suitable for next-generation electric and conventional vehicles.

"This agreement highlights the value of combining our proprietary DDF technology with advanced prepreg systems to enable faster, more cost-efficient composite manufacturing," said Gaurav Unni, Global Sales Leader Automotive Composites at Syensqo.

The collaboration reflects the automotive industry's continued investment in advanced composite manufacturing technologies that can deliver lightweight performance at production volumes suitable for mainstream vehicle programs. As automakers seek to reduce vehicle weight, improve energy efficiency, and optimize electric vehicle architectures, scalable composite manufacturing solutions are becoming increasingly important across structural and battery system applications.
