Turkish boatbuilder NorthStar RIBs has completed its Vega Lite tender range, manufacturing the series with its proprietary ONE-SHOT single-stage resin transfer molding (RTM) process to improve production efficiency while delivering lightweight, high-quality composite hulls.

The Vega Lite lineup comprises compact rigid inflatable boat (RIB) tenders designed for yacht owners seeking durable, lightweight, and easy-to-handle auxiliary vessels. The new manufacturing approach forms a key part of the company's strategy to enhance both product performance and production efficiency.

Unlike conventional composite boatbuilding methods, the ONE-SHOT RTM process injects resin into a closed mold containing dry fiber reinforcements, producing a fully integrated composite structure in a single molding operation. According to NorthStar, the technology reduces the number of manufacturing stages from five to two, shortens production time by approximately 50%, and cuts labor requirements by half.

The company also stated that the process produces a fully bonded, 100% foam-filled structure that is lighter and offers greater dimensional consistency than conventionally manufactured alternatives. In addition to improving laminate quality and surface finish, the closed-mold process enhances resin control, reduces material waste, and minimizes emissions associated with open-mold composite fabrication.

Completing the Vega Lite family marks the culmination of five years of engineering and product development, said Cengiz Arsay, President of NorthStar RIBs. Our ONE-SHOT RTM method allows us to deliver lighter, stronger, and more consistent yacht tenders while improving production efficiency and reducing the environmental footprint of manufacturing. Our goal is to ensure that advanced composite engineering benefits not only the factory floor but every customer who owns and operates one of our boats.

The Vega Lite range has been developed to combine lightweight construction with the durability and structural reliability required for everyday marine operations. By adopting advanced closed-mold composite manufacturing, NorthStar aims to deliver tenders that offer improved quality, lower production variability, and greater manufacturing efficiency.

The completion of the Vega Lite family highlights the growing adoption of resin transfer molding technologies in the marine sector, where boatbuilders are increasingly investing in automated composite manufacturing processes to produce lighter, stronger, and more sustainable vessels with consistent production quality.
