Swiss cleantech innovator Bcomp
has partnered with luxury yacht manufacturer Sunreef Yachts to introduce
sustainable natural fibre composites into the interiors of the 100 Sunreef
Power catamaran.
The forward section, bar,
barbecue, and navigation station of the new model will feature Bcomp s
ampliTex flax fibre composite, combined with bio-based or recyclable
resin. Offering a lightweight, stiff, non-toxic, and vibration-damping
alternative to glass fibre, ampliTex enhances passenger comfort while
significantly reducing environmental impact.
These components will be crafted
in a striking pearl grey and charcoal finish, delivering both
high-performance mechanical durability and elegant aesthetics tailored to
customer preferences.
Luxury should be redefined, not
by excess but by conscious creation, said Nicolas Lapp, CTO and Cofounder
at Sunreef. Working with Bcomp allowed us to explore a new design language
where natural materials elevate both aesthetics and performance.
The collaboration underscores a
shared commitment to sustainability and innovation in yacht design, with the
potential to expand bio-based composite applications beyond interiors into semi-structural
catamaran parts.
This project shows what s
possible in sustainable yacht design, added Paolo Dassi, Marine &
Industry Manager at Bcomp. By working with Sunreef, we aim to make
bio-based composites a standard in customised eco catamaran construction.
Already proven in Formula 1
seating, sailboats, ferries, and yachts, Bcomp s flax fibre composites are
now set to play a bigger role in redefining the future of luxury marine
interiors, where performance meets sustainability.
