Global plasma technology leader Plasmatreat marked a major
milestone this month with the 30th anniversary of the patent application
for its Openair-Plasma technology, hosting over 200 guests and 16
industry partners at its headquarters during Technology Days 2025.
Themed Think Ahead, Experience Innovation, the two-day event
showcased how the company s atmospheric plasma technology has transformed
industrial surface treatment and how its impact is only growing.
From Innovation to Industrial Standard
Since 1995, Plasmatreat s Openair-Plasma has reshaped manufacturing by
enabling ultra-fine cleaning, surface activation, reduction, and functional
coatings across industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics,
medical, packaging, and battery production. Its key advantages like process
stability, environmental friendliness, and easy integration have
fueled global adoption.
Founder and CEO Christian Buske opened the event, declaring, Our
tool is ionized gas. Plasma technology enables countless ways to modify
surfaces of plastics, metals, glass, fibers, and composites, granting them
specific properties for further processing.
A Platform for Industry Collaboration
The event featured workshops, technical presentations, and a partner
exhibition. Notable speakers included experts from Beckhoff Automation,
Fraunhofer IFAM, GROB-WERKEN, and tesa, discussing how plasma is enabling next-generation
applications such as HMI components, battery cell bonding, and smart
automation systems.
Workshops allowed attendees to see plasma in action, including
demonstrations on digitally printed custom footwear, anti-corrosion
aluminum coating, semiconductor surface cleaning, and HydroPlasma,
a new water-enhanced plasma cleaning method that eliminates the need for wet
chemistry.
Automotive and e-Mobility at the Core
In a keynote, CEO Lukas
Buske outlined the automotive sector s pivotal role in the evolution of
Openair-Plasma. What began as a solution for bonding polypropylene headlamp
housings now powers over 100 automotive and battery manufacturing
applications.
We now meet TISAX standards for information security, Buske noted,
reinforcing the company s commitment to industry compliance.
Growing Universe of Possibilities
Workshops like REDOX Effect, Plasma Meets Polymer, and
AntiCorr Protective Shield reflected the diverse and growing
applications of plasma, from corrosion-resistant coatings to optimized adhesion
for structural bonding, all with minimal environmental impact.
Plasmatreat s global team of 320 employees continues to drive
forward innovation, offering tailored plasma solutions supported by local
expertise worldwide.
Next Stop: K Trade Fair
Plasmatreat will present its latest plasma technologies at the K 2025
Trade Fair in D sseldorf from October 8 15 (Hall 11, Booth
I65), highlighting developments in plastics surface treatment and
engaging directly with customers seeking sustainable, high-performance
production solutions.
