Trelleborg Group has agreed to acquire Tri-Mack, a US manufacturer of precision-engineered thermoplastic and thermoplastic composite components for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. The agreement was signed on October 21, 2026, through Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and its Global Aerospace unit. The transaction is expected to be finalized by early 2027.

Founded 52 years ago as a family-owned business, Tri-Mack is headquartered in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA. Its vertically integrated manufacturing facility supports injection molding, toolmaking, thermoplastic composite processing, precision CNC machining, bonding, and assembly. Through a collaborative engineering approach, the company develops components and solutions for demanding customer requirements.

Reflecting on the company's history, Tri-Mack Chairman of the Board Ed Mack II said, “When I think about the challenges my parents faced, starting out in an old sail loft while raising eight kids, it is remarkable that we are signing this agreement 52 years later. My parents did not start this company with the idea of selling it to a global corporation. They believed they could build something worthwhile that incorporated their values. I believe they would be delighted to see just how well their values have persevered and just how worthwhile their endeavor has become.”

Headquartered in Trelleborg, Sweden, Trelleborg Group is a multinational engineering company operating across industrial, medical, and sealing solutions. Its aerospace operations already include five dedicated manufacturing facilities in North America, producing advanced components for the industry. The addition of Tri-Mack is expected to complement these operations by bringing further engineering expertise and thermoplastic composite manufacturing capabilities into the group.

Tri-Mack CEO Will Kain described the strategic alignment between the companies, stating, “I see this new alliance as the perfect strategic fit. Trelleborg’s global presence will open access to new markets. Tri-Mack’s engineering focus and technical capabilities mesh very well with Trelleborg’s. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, our similar values and corporate cultures will allow our existing team to make lasting contributions toward our mutual goal of enduring growth.”

Combining Tri-Mack’s manufacturing capabilities and experienced workforce with Trelleborg’s international presence is expected to expand business capacity and create opportunities to offer a broader range of products and services to customers worldwide. The acquisition also supports Tri-Mack’s long-term growth plans while maintaining its established operations in Bristol.

Commenting on the agreement, Tri-Mack President Tom Kneath added, “This acquisition is aligned with Tri-Mack’s overarching goals for long-term growth, building on the company’s established legacy here in Bristol, Rhode Island. Being part of a global organization will create new opportunities for our employees and more comprehensive solutions for our customers. We look forward to partnering with Trelleborg and launching an exciting new chapter in our company’s history.”

The transaction is expected to close in early 2027. Until completion, Tri-Mack will continue operating as usual, with no changes to its location or existing business contacts.
