SHD Composites has developed an advanced carbon fiber prepreg solution for Dissident Automotive’s range of aftermarket Porsche components through a collaboration with UK-based manufacturing partner AGN Composites. As detailed in a case study published by SHD Composites on October 26, 2026, the partnership focused on achieving high-quality visible carbon fiber finishes while maintaining predictable processing and cost-effective production.

Dissident Automotive designs direct-replacement carbon fiber components for Porsche 911 and 718 models. AGN Composites manufactures these parts at its UK facility, producing components such as ducktail spoilers, splitters, diffusers, side sills and wing blades. The company sought a prepreg material that could accommodate intricate mould geometries while delivering a clear carbon fiber weave beneath a mirror-quality lacquer finish.

To address these requirements, SHD developed the MTC510-1 advanced prepreg system in collaboration with AGN. The material is a cost-effective hot-melt prepreg designed specifically for visually demanding carbon fiber components. Its handling characteristics are comparable to those of solvent-based prepregs, allowing manufacturing teams to work with familiar processing behaviour while achieving the required surface appearance.

SHD’s technical team worked with AGN to optimise material handling, lay-up procedures and processing parameters. The development effort also focused on improving production consistency and repeatability without the handling difficulties and costs often associated with premium visual-grade prepregs.

The MTC510-1 system is now used across Dissident Automotive’s exterior and cosmetic component range. The resulting parts are hand-built in the UK, combining visible carbon fiber surface quality with the strength and precision required for replacement automotive components. According to SHD, the material supports production to standards comparable with original equipment manufacturer components while maintaining cost efficiency.

The collaboration highlights the role of prepreg formulation and processing support in manufacturing premium automotive carbon fiber components, particularly where surface appearance is as important as structural performance.
