Slack & Parr, a global leader in high-precision metering systems, has been
commissioned to supply high-precision metering pumps for a major carbon fibre production facility in India, reinforcing
critical process infrastructure within the composites value chain.
The project involves the delivery of 21 acrylic metering pumps designed to ensure controlled and
consistent flow of polymer during the
production of PAN precursor fibres, an essential step in manufacturing
high-performance carbon fibre.
The high-accuracy metering technologies have been engineered
to deliver a reliable and controlled flow of polymer into the processing line.
19 of the 21 pumps are mounted onto bespoke drive units, each fitted with a
special coupling, gear box and electric brake. The contract includes three
different-sized pumps 1,000cc/rev, 1,500cc/rev and 2,000cc/rev which will
be used in a variety of applications within the new plant.
Carbon fibre
produced at the new facility will be used in the region s aerospace, defence
and infrastructure sectors.
Neil Anderton, Hydraulics and Pneumatics Director at Slack & Parr, said: We are delighted to be involved in the realisation of this highly ambitious and internationally significant carbon fibre production plant. The project draws on our extensive expertise in the processing of acrylic fibres for the composites and traditional textile industries.
