Renegade Materials Corporation has made RAVEN cure simulation available for its RM-2014-LDk-Tk low-dielectric epoxy resin system, adding a digital process-development tool to the material’s existing engineering data. Developed by Convergent Manufacturing Technologies, RAVEN enables engineers to evaluate composite cure behavior under different processing conditions before conducting physical trials.

The capability complements Renegade’s NCAMP-qualified RM-2014-LDk-Tk-4581 prepreg system, which is qualified to the NCAMP NMS201/1 material specification. Publicly available data includes mechanical design allowables and dielectric properties, giving engineers information for evaluating the material during component design.

RAVEN adds the manufacturing-process simulation component to this data set. Engineers can model proposed cure conditions and assess material behavior before moving to physical processing, helping identify suitable processing parameters earlier in the development cycle.

One targeted application is aerospace radomes, where the RM-2014-LDk-Tk-4581 system can be assessed against both structural and electrical requirements. As a design moves toward manufacturing and certification, RAVEN can then be used to evaluate cure behavior under the proposed processing conditions.

Renegade said combining NCAMP design data with RAVEN simulation can reduce the need for engineers to independently generate design information and support earlier process evaluation. The approach is intended to help reduce development time, cost, and technical risk, particularly for aerospace and defense programs operating on compressed development schedules.

The addition of RAVEN extends Renegade’s approach from supplying high-performance composite materials to providing the design data and digital engineering tools needed to move those materials from selection and component design through process development and manufacturing.
