XTI Aerospace, Inc., a leader in next-generation vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, announced the successful completion of a propulsion technical familiarization ("Tech Fam") meeting with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), marking another key milestone in the certification journey of its flagship aircraft, the TriFan 600.

During the session, engineering teams from XTI Aircraft Company, a subsidiary of XTI, collaborated with FAA officials to review critical propulsion system components including engines, fuel systems, propellers, drive trains, and structural mounts. The review also covered essential certification concerns such as engine fire containment, bird strike resilience, fuel management, and onboard diagnostics for system integrity.

David Ambrose, XTI s Vice President of Engineering, highlighted the significance of the collaborative effort, stating, FAA dialog during the Tech Fam meetings provides helpful insight regarding our approach to systems and structural design to support eventual certification. This open and transparent approach underscores our paramount goal of producing a safe and reliable aircraft.

The TriFan 600 is XTI s hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft that takes off and lands like a helicopter but cruises up to 311 mph with a range of 985 miles. Branded as xVTOL, it features a full carbon fiber composite structure for strength and efficiency.
