REGENT, which develops all-electric seaglider vehicles for coastal transport, held a groundbreaking ceremony in January 2025 for what it calls the world's first seaglider manufacturing facility, a 255,000-square-foot site in the Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Coming online in 2026, it will handle component manufacturing, final assembly and pre-delivery testing for REGENT's 12-passenger Viceroy seaglider.
More than 100 guests, including Rhode Island's governor, both U.S. senators from the state, and several members of Congress, attended the ceremony. REGENT's co-founder and CEO said the facility brings the company closer to meeting global demand for its seagliders, while state officials framed the investment as reinforcing Rhode Island's position in the blue economy.
Since relocating to Rhode Island in 2022, REGENT has built a commercial order book exceeding $9 billion across six continents, become a U.S. Marine Corps defense contractor, and raised $60 million in a Series A round described as the largest venture-capital raise in state history. The company has created over 100 jobs so far and received state incentives tied to job-creation commitments, and expects its first human seaglider flight this year ahead of sea trials.
