Bio-based epoxy maker Sicomin is partnering with Swiss ski manufacturer MADskis, which will use Sicomin's GreenPoxy 56 resin—51% bio-content, the highest available—in its high-performance ski production. MADskis, co-founded by professional skier and Class40 world champion Aurélien Ducroz, previously used Sicomin GreenPoxy resin and flax fibers in Ducroz's ocean-racing yacht and is now applying similar materials and techniques to its skis.
MADskis' UNDO-REDO process, which uses bio-based resins and natural wooden topsheets, lets skiers repair or replace the upper layers of their skis, extending product life and reducing waste. A Sicomin representative said the partnership reflects a shared vision of improving sustainability without sacrificing performance, while GreenPoxy 56's low viscosity and range of hardener options are designed to suit varied lamination and bonding needs in custom ski manufacturing.
