Rocket Lab Corporation, a global leader in launch services and space systems, has officially opened Launch Complex 3, its new dedicated test, launch, and landing facility for the reusable Neutron rocket. The site, located at Pad 0D within the Virginia Spaceport Authority s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) on Wallops Island, represents the largest orbital launch capacity in the spaceport s history.

Neutron, Rocket Lab s medium-lift reusable launch vehicle, featuring carbon fiber composites for all of the rocket s major structures, is designed to carry up to 13,000kg (33,000 lbs) to orbit, supporting missions for commercial satellite constellations, national security, interplanetary exploration, and future human spaceflight.

Launch Complex 3 is our commitment to providing assured access to space and the site diversity needed for the United States most critical missions, said Sir Peter Beck, Rocket Lab founder and CEO. Together with the Commonwealth of Virginia, VSA, and NASA, we are strengthening the nation s leadership in space while creating new opportunities for innovation and growth.

The facility was completed in less than two years by Rocket Lab s 60+ Virginia-based staff, a milestone hailed as a feat of engineering and efficiency. The launch pad will host Neutron s maiden flight and future high-cadence reusable missions.

Virginia leaders emphasized the site s strategic importance for national security, innovation, and economic growth. Governor Glenn Youngkin called the opening a bold step forward for Virginia s growing role in the commercial space industry, while Congresswoman Jen Kiggans highlighted the project s contribution to strengthening U.S. aerospace leadership.

With the opening of Launch Complex 3, Virginia strengthens its position as a hub for U.S. commercial space operations, while Rocket Lab advances its vision of delivering reliable and responsive access to orbit and beyond.
