Polar Technology, a leading engineering and
manufacturing specialist in composite and metallic solutions, has expanded its
production capabilities with the integration of a new three-spindle filament
winding machine. The system forms part of a high-performance,
CNC-controlled production cell designed to meet rising demand across the
company s wound composites portfolio.
Polar now operates seven custom-designed, 4-axis filament
winding machines equipped with closed-loop tension and temperature control.
The investment strengthens the company s position in delivering lightweight,
high-strength components for aerospace, automotive, motorsport, rail, and
defense applications.
Winding Process Capabilities
Polar employs both wet winding where dry fibres are
impregnated with liquid resin during winding and prepreg winding, using
slit tape or tow preg materials. Fibre types include carbon (standard and
ultra-high modulus), glass, and aramid, while resin systems range from epoxy
to Cyanate Ester and BMI, tailored to end-use requirements.
Post-winding, components are cured in ovens or autoclaves for consolidation and
performance assurance.
Product Applications
This expansion underscores Polar Technology s commitment to innovation
in filament winding and reinforces its ability to supply advanced composite
solutions to industries seeking efficiency, reliability, and performance.
