Northrop Grumman Corporation,
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, and Northeast Mississippi Community
College (NEMCC) have announced the future site of the Northrop Grumman
Aerospace Lab at NEMCC s Corinth campus. The new facility, supported by a
Northrop Grumman Foundation grant, will serve as a hub for advanced
manufacturing training, preparing students for high-demand careers in the
aerospace and defense industry.
Set to open in early 2026,
the state-of-the-art lab will provide hands-on training in composite
material fabrication, repair, and inspection, replicating real-world
environments students will face in the workforce. This initiative expands
NEMCC s career-ready program offerings and supports Mississippi s growing role
in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
Governor Tate Reeves emphasized
the lab s importance for the state s future workforce, calling it a
launchpad for the careers of the future. Northrop Grumman s Tom Jones,
corporate vice president and president of Aeronautics Systems, added that the
facility will provide a highly trained pipeline to the technical workforce
that will help enhance prosperity in Mississippi.
With more than 800 employees,
730,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, and nearly 100 suppliers across the
state, Northrop Grumman has a strong Mississippi presence. The company
continues to invest in STEM education through partnerships with local schools,
community programs, and universities, reinforcing its commitment to workforce
development and economic growth in the region.
