Mirka Ltd, a world-leading manufacturer of surface finishing and industrial solutions, has completed the acquisition of all bonded conventional abrasive wheels assets from Hermes Schleifmittel GmbH, a leading abrasives producer.

The asset purchase agreement, signed in Hamburg on 1 September 2025, includes Hermes bonded abrasives factory in Uetersen, along with all assets, inventory, and staff connected to the bonded business in Germany and globally. The acquisition strengthens Mirka s position in precision grinding and forms a key step in its long-term growth strategy.

Mirka has steadily expanded its precision grinding portfolio since 2013, starting with a dedicated micro-grit flexible abrasives line, followed by the acquisitions of Italian superabrasive wheel manufacturer Cafro in 2017 and Swiss dressing roll producer URMA Rolls in 2021. The integration of Hermes bonded wheels now completes Mirka s portfolio, which spans diamond, CBN, and conventional wheels.

Finally, after years of building up the portfolio, we now have a broad, comprehensive and very competitive offering in precision grinding that can serve the most demanding applications, said Stefan Sj berg, CEO of Mirka. We are really excited about this opportunity and the synergies it brings.

Conventional bonded abrasives are essential in precision grinding applications across aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing, particularly for gearboxes, bearings, and turbine components.

The Uetersen facility will become Mirka s competence centre for bonded conventional abrasives, ensuring smooth integration and uninterrupted operations. Mirka has confirmed that existing deliveries will continue seamlessly, securing supply to key customers while opening new opportunities for innovation and development.
