Fidamc,
the renowned R&D and training center
specializing in advanced composite structures, has marked the symbolic
laying of the first stone for its new technology building in Getafe, Spain.
This milestone reinforces Fidamc’s strategy to expand its capabilities and meet the rising demands of the aerospace
industry.
The 500-square-meter facility, set to open in
September 2025 behind Fidamc’s main building, will enhance both Fidamc’s and ENSIA EXPERT’s (a 100% Airbus
Group company) technological and production capacity. ENSIA EXPERT
specializes in structural integrity
testing and certification of aircraft components.
“This project is a commitment to the future. Not
only are we expanding our facilities, but we are reinforcing our commitment to
innovation, employment, and the technological sovereignty of the Spanish
aerospace industry,” said Ernesto
González, CEO of Fidamc.
The event brought together leaders from industry
and government, including Airbus Spain, Getafe City Council, and the Getafe
Aerospace Network cluster. Airbus’s Ricardo Rojas emphasized the importance of
collaboration across companies, technology centers, and public institutions to
strengthen Europe’s aerospace competitiveness.
The new site will allow Fidamc and ENSIA EXPERT
to address emerging challenges in air
mobility, expand testing capabilities, and fuel local economic development.
“This hall will reinforce our technological synergy with Fidamc and help
consolidate our position in the European innovation ecosystem,” noted Pedro Serrano, Managing Director of ENSIA
EXPERT.
Mayor Sara
Hernández underscored the impact for Getafe: “There is no sustainable
economic development without investment in knowledge. Initiatives like this place
our city at the center of industrial innovation in Europe.”
Fidamc expects the expansion to create jobs,
enable new technological collaborations, and cement its role as a leading
aerospace innovation hub.
