Cristex has
announced that it is now supplying AX-5605, a next-generation pre-ceramic, polymer-silica
prepreg system engineered to perform in some of the most demanding thermal environments in industry.
Developed for service temperatures up to 482°C, AX-5605 is designed to deliver outstanding strength, thermal resistance, and
structural integrity across a range of high-performance
applications.
This innovative material features a polymer-silica
matrix reinforced with carbon, combining the benefits of ceramic-like thermal performance with
the lightweight and mechanical advantages of advanced composites. The solution-coated process ensures thorough
fibre impregnation, resulting in laminates that retain excellent mechanical
properties even under prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
Key Performance Characteristics:

Continuous service temperature range from -55°C to 482°C
·
Exceptional fire and flammability resistance, including 482°C
burn-through performance
·
High strength and dimensional stability in multi-ply laminates
Targeted Applications: AX-5605 is specifically developed
for components and structures where conventional materials are unable to
withstand prolonged heat exposure or combustion risk. Typical applications
include:

High-temperature composite laminates
·
Disc brakes for motorsport
·
Engine parts and components exposed to sustained high heat
·
High-temperature tubing and ducting
·
Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) plenums
·
Any application requiring exceptional burn-through and fire

offering AX-5605 in two carbon fabric formats:

Carbon 205 g/m² 2/2 Twill – 1270mm wide
