Cirrus Aircraft has announced a $13 million expansion of its Grand Forks manufacturing facility to support continued growth in production of the world s best-selling single-engine piston aircraft and personal jet.

During a groundbreaking ceremony, Cirrus revealed plans to add 30,000 square feet to its existing 165,000 square foot facility. The expansion will support manufacturing of the composites-intensive SR Series and Vision Jet, with investments in new equipment, tooling, and storage, along with the creation of new jobs over the next five years.

We have worked closely with the Grand Forks legislature and community to invest in the growth and expansion of a facility that not only supports manufacturing the best-selling single-engine piston aircraft and best-selling jet right here in Grand Forks, said Zean Nielsen, Chief Executive Officer of Cirrus. Cirrus is deeply committed to safety, innovation, quality and contributing to the long-term economic vitality of the region.

The Grand Forks site plays a critical role in producing Cirrus s flagship aircraft, both of which are equipped with industry-leading safety features including the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS ) and Safe Return Emergency Autoland. Cirrus also offers a comprehensive ecosystem for personal aviation, from pilot training through Cirrus Approach to a global network of authorized flight training and service centers.

Since opening its composite production facility in Grand Forks in 1994, Cirrus has pioneered general aviation innovation, launching the SR20 composite piston aircraft shortly thereafter. To date, Cirrus has delivered more than 11,000 aircraft, with its fleet surpassing 18 million flight hours. The facility expansion is expected to be completed by Q2 2026, reinforcing Cirrus s long-term commitment to innovation and regional investment.
