Sigma Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of optical
equipment such as photographic lenses and cameras, has adopted Teijin’s biomass-derived
polycarbonate (PC) resin for use in its part of lens barrels for
interchangeable lens cameras.
Sigma’s interchangeable lenses with barrels made from
Teijin’s biomass PC resin will be available within the first half of this
fiscal year.
Teijin will be showcasing Sigma’s lens barrels molded from
biomass PC resin at its exhibit (Booth 17K71) at Chinaplas 2025, to be held in
Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, on April 15-18. Sigma is a manufacturer of
photographic lenses and cameras, founded in 1961.
All production processes, including the supply chain, are carried out entirely in Japan, with the company headquartered in Kanagawa Prefecture and its sole manufacturing base located in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture. Distributing to more than 85 countries and regions, Sigma is committed to environmental sustainability, actively adopting technologies that help reduce environmental impact at every stage of production — from material selection to development, design, and manufacturing — as part of ongoing efforts toward a low carbon society.
