Swiss cleantech company Bcomp has collaborated with leading
Spanish padel brand Siux to develop the new GEA racket: an advanced-level
padel racket integrating Bcomp’s ampliTex™ natural
fibre reinforcement to deliver enhanced precision for better game control and
playability to players of all levels while reducing environmental impact.
The collaboration comes at a crucial time, with padel
currently one of the fastest-growing sports globally, with about 30 million
active players in more than 140 countries around the world. Contributing to its
popularity are its highly interactive and social nature, since it is generally
played in doubles, making it accessible to people of all skill levels, but also
the easy-to-use, stringless rackets made from composite materials with a
perforated hitting surface. This exponential growth, both at amateur and
professional levels, makes it a ripe moment for innovation, and an opportunity
to bring bio-based materials to the wider padel market.
The launch of the GEA marks the inaugural racket series from
Siux as a fully independent brand, a significant step in 2024 after its
dissociation from Padel Nuestro. This launch underscores Siux’s strong
commitment to advancing padel as a sport through technical excellence and
responsible design, setting the standard for the padel industry. With an
energetic identity and playful feel, the GEA racket is engineered for
precision, offering a broader optimised spot, enhanced power, and a medium
touch that supports balanced, controlled gameplay.
At the heart of GEA’s performance lies ampliTex™ flax
fabrics, used on both the front and back of the racket. Developed by Bcomp,
ampliTex™ natural fibre reinforcements offer exceptional mechanical properties
with minimal environmental impact as flax fibres are a naturally grown, CO2-neutral raw material. The unique structure of flax fibres provides strong resistance to
breakage, damping properties to reduce vibration for better ball control, and
a lightweight yet durable composition, ideal for high-performance sports
equipment.
With sustainability and innovation at the core of both brands, this collaboration marks a strategic step toward reshaping the padel sector with high-performance equipment made from bio-based materials, and opens the door to expanding the use of natural fibre composites across Siux’s product lineup. By designing inherently sustainable equipment, manufacturers can ensure that the increased production doesn’t come at the planet’s expense.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Siux to help establish bio-based composites as a staple in the padel market,” says Patrick Vuagnat, Manager Sports & Lifestyle at Bcomp. “This project highlights how natural fibres can deliver top-tier performance while supporting a more sustainable future for the sport. It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when two like-minded teams come together with a shared commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.”
“As padel continues its rapid rise, we see a unique opportunity, and a responsibility, to lead with purpose,” says Stefano Barbero, Product Director at Siux. “With GEA, we set out to prove that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. Collaborating with Bcomp, a company that shares our values and vision, allowed us to push boundaries and reimagine what a padel racket can be. Every detail of this racket is designed for players who care about how their gear is made, as much as how it plays. It’s a reflection of our commitment to doing things differently: grounded in nature, driven by precision, and built for the future of the sport.”
Siux is a Spanish brand specialising in the padel market, with a presence in over 70 countries. Created by and for players, it was born in 2012 to offer the best padel products to optimise performance in professional settings, through their experience inside and outside the court. Many stars in the world of padel are part of the Siux team Franco Stupaczuk, Sofia Araujo, Tino Libaak, Leo Augsburger, Álex Chozas, and Patty Llaguno, amongst others.
