    Published: 10 Jul 2025

The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) has revised and redesignated the ANSI/ACMA UEF-1-2019 standard on estimating emission factors for open molding and other composite processes. The project was published in the June 6, 2025, edition of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standards Action Vol. 56, No.23.

The Unified Emission Factors (UEF) for Open Molding and Other Composite Processes standard provides scientifically backed methods for estimating air emissions from various composites manufacturing processes, including open molding. These estimates are essential for a wide range of applications, such as:

    • Emission inventories
    • Environmental permit applications
    • Regulatory compliance reports
    • Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reports submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
    • Internal business planning and sustainability initiatives

ACMA is actively encouraging broad involvement through two primary working groups, ensuring diverse input and representation in the creation and revision of industry standards

    • Relevant Committee  Responsible for drafting the revised standard and addressing public comments.
    • Consensus Body  Serves as the official voting group that reviews and approves the draft before the final 45-day ANSI public review.
