Toray Composite Materials America (Toray CMA) showcased a range of new and advanced composite materials at CAMX 2026 in Atlanta. The portfolio included a patent-pending recycled carbon fiber material, new prepreg formats, and thermoplastic composite technologies for aerospace and industrial applications.
One of the key materials highlighted was Stratex™ 2300r, a unidirectional carbon fiber composite that incorporates post-consumer recycled content. The material is designed to provide manufacturers with a carbon fiber composite option that incorporates recycled material while maintaining the characteristics required for structural applications.
Toray also presented a new 3960 ±45° braided prepreg format. The material is designed to support more efficient composite manufacturing and higher production rates. The development builds on Toray's existing 3960 prepreg system and expands its available reinforcement formats.
The company also highlighted a fast-cure version of 3960 prepreg. The technology is intended for applications where shorter cure cycles can help increase manufacturing throughput. This is particularly relevant to aerospace and defense components that require high-performance composite materials alongside more efficient processing.
In the thermoplastic composites segment, Toray showcased Cetex® TC1130 PESU. The material was demonstrated in a stamped aircraft stow-bin structure. The thermoplastic composite is designed for aerospace applications requiring fire, smoke, and toxicity performance.
Toray also displayed Cetex® TC1200 PEEK in an engine vane application. The company said the thermoplastic composite can enable weight reductions of up to 60% compared with conventional materials in suitable engine components. The portfolio also included EcoTerra, a bio-based composite material aimed at consumer product applications.
The materials were presented during CAMX 2026, held in Atlanta from September 21 to 24. Together, the developments highlight Toray's work across recycled carbon fiber, faster composite processing, thermoplastic composites, and bio-based materials for aerospace and other applications.
