Exel Composites has secured a new project with Chinese automotive manufacturer Foton Bus and Coach Company to supply pultruded glass fiber composite (FRP) profiles for electric bus applications.
The agreement, signed in February 2024, covers the supply of FRP side panels, skirt panels, and fake roofs, delivering a 30% density reduction compared to aluminium alternatives.
The pultruded profiles reach widths of up to 1.2 metres and lengths of up to 12 metres, meeting the dimensional requirements of full-size electric bus bodies.
Mr. He from Foton Bus and Coach Company and Kathy Wang from Exel Composites both provided quotes highlighting the mutual benefits of the partnership for lightweighting and sustainability in electric mobility.
