Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions has announced a collaboration with FSJ Tactical to enhance ballistic-resistant composite wall panels, including the Walshield solution, for facility protection. The development will be showcased at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2025 in New Orleans, highlighting how advanced composite materials are redefining protection standards for public and private infrastructure.

FSJ Tactical is a Peoria, Ariz.-based company specializing in perimeter safety solutions for public sector entities. Experts in protective systems design, customization, and installation, the team at FSJ Tactical has developed Walshield , a ballistic-resistant wall panel solution that has recently been implemented in a large Arizona public school district s educational facility.

FSJ Tactical incorporates Avient s ThermoBallistic panels into its Walshield systems. Thermally formed with layers of 0 /90 unidirectional E-glass fiber reinforcements and thermoplastic resin, ThermoBallistic panels are a lightweight composite material rated to UL 752 Level 3 protection. Compared to steel and concrete solutions, the reduced weight simplifies the installation process, and the fiberglass-reinforced polymer composition facilitates performance by encapsulating projectiles and preventing harmful deflection and ricochet.

"At Avient, we re proud to support FSJ Tactical in their mission to protect lives," said Brad Schmidt, General Manager, Advanced Composites at Avient. "This collaboration exemplifies how advanced composite materials can make a real-world impact, especially in environments where safety is paramount."

The companies will present the ballistic-resistant wall panel solution on the School Security Stage at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) on Monday, September 29, at 4 pm. Avient will also be exhibiting at GSX in booth 3725 at the New Orleans Ernest Morial Convention Center from September 29 to October 1, 2025.
