Arkema, a global specialty chemicals and advanced
materials company, has announced a proposed divestment of its plastic additives
business to India-based Praana Group
a multinational specialty chemicals and advanced materials group, as part of
a broader portfolio optimization strategy, sharpening its focus on high-value
specialty materials aligned with advanced applications, including composites. With
this project, Arkema continues to refocus its portfolio on its strategic
activities.
The proposed transaction covers Arkema s global Methyl Methacrylate Butadiene Styrene (MBS) copolymer activities as well as its European and Asian acrylic impact modifier and processing aid (AIMPA) businesses, currently part of Arkema s Coating Solutions segment. As part of the proposed acquisition, Praana s group company, Galata Chemicals will also take ownership of the Vlissingen, Netherlands production facility, which employs 50 people. These activities, part of the Coating Solutions segment, generated 44 million sales in 2024.
Vishal Goenka, Vice Chairman of Praana Group, commented, This proposed acquisition strengthens Galata Chemicals portfolio with complementary plastic additives technologies that enhance impact performance and process efficiency in PVC and composite applications. It supports integration-led growth, deeper customer engagement, and scalable value creation across core end markets.
