Nassimi has
announced the launch of Hyphyn™, a groundbreaking performance vinyl
engineered to biodegrade in landfill
conditions without generating microplastics, PFAS, or toxic residues.
Developed over six years, Hyphyn™ made its official debut at NeoCon 2025 in Chicago, June 9–11.
Designed to meet demanding commercial standards while tackling
vinyl’s environmental footprint, Hyphyn™ features a patented enzyme system and proprietary resin formulation that
enable over 90% biodegradation within 24
months in simulated landfill conditions.
“True innovation isn’t just about creating something new; it’s
about rethinking what’s possible,” said Iwan
Nassimi, Executive Vice President of Nassimi. “Hyphyn™ reimagines vinyl’s
lifecycle, offering the performance the industry relies on while solving the
long-term environmental impact challenges no other vinyl has addressed.”
Performance Meets Sustainability
Intended for high-traffic sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, education, and retail, Hyphyn™ retains the
durability, cleanability, and ease of maintenance of conventional vinyl while
decomposing into inert gases when disposed of in landfills. These gases can
then be captured and converted into energy. The product is also engineered to
incinerate cleanly, producing no dioxins, one of the most harmful byproducts of
traditional vinyl combustion.
Extensive Third-Party Validation
Hyphyn™ has undergone rigorous, five-part independent testing to substantiate
its claims:
·
Material Safety: Verified free of heavy metals, PFAS, formaldehyde, and compliant
with Prop 65, RoHS, and REACH standards.
·
Biodegradation: Achieved over 90% degradation within 24 months under
landfill-simulated conditions.
·
Post-Biodegradation Soil Testing: No
detectable release of over 1,000 monitored toxic substances.
·
Soil Health: Demonstrated 100% seed germination in Hyphyn-treated soil,
outperforming conventional vinyl controls.
·
Indoor Air Quality: Certified for low VOC emissions.
“Hyphyn™ isn’t just about where a material begins or how it
performs, it’s about where its journey ends,” Nassimi emphasized.
