MATERI ACT, a FORVIA Group subsidiary focused on sustainable materials, has introduced NAFILean Vision, a breakthrough biocomposite engineered for automotive injection technologies. Building on the success of NAFILean-R, already used in over 10 million vehicles, this new material offers both high mechanical performance and an innovative visible aesthetic that redefines eco-conscious automotive interiors.

NAFILean Vision takes center stage as a next-generation material composed of low-carbon recycled plastics and up to 25% renewable biomass sources including hemp, wood, vine shoots, reeds, and even oyster shells. Designed for use in visible automotive parts, it enables OEMs to replace decorative films or paints by delivering a high-quality visual finish directly through injection molding. This process eliminates post-treatment steps, significantly reducing both CO emissions and production costs.

According to life cycle assessments, NAFILean Vision cuts carbon emissions by up to 75% and remains fully recyclable, supporting a circular economy model. It integrates biomass with high CO sequestration potential, enhancing both its environmental and aesthetic value. The natural textures, color variations, and depth of grain reflect the organic origins of the materials, delivering a unique, sustainable alternative for automotive designers.

A concept car prototype showcased the material s real-world potential, incorporating recycled coastal plastics and 10% oyster shell particles, a collaboration with Plastic Odyssey, part of MATERI ACT s circular innovation ecosystem. The response from automakers was overwhelmingly positive, setting the stage for near-term industrial deployment.

In addition to sustainability, NAFILean Vision unlocks creative potential for automotive brands. The material is compatible with digital design tools and includes implementation guides to streamline development. With its emphasis on Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) flexibility, the material is poised to align with evolving consumer design expectations while reinforcing environmental responsibility.

NAFILean Vision takes the performance of NAFILean-R to a new level, with advanced decorative effects. It is an attractive, ready-to-use solution that combines mechanical strength and aesthetic excellence, said Elise Moreau, President of MATERI ACT.

As the automotive industry shifts toward net-zero targets, MATERI ACT s NAFILean Vision presents a viable, scalable solution, blending function, form, and sustainability into a single biocomposite platform.
