The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) celebrated a decade of driving American manufacturing forward. Founded on June 17, 2015, as the fifth Manufacturing USA® institute, IACMI has since grown into a national leader in advanced composites innovation, workforce development, and public-private collaboration.
Over the past 10 years, IACMI has implemented a proven formula: technical innovation plus workforce development equals economic growth, positioning the United States to lead in the reshoring of critical manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its defense industrial base.
“What began in 2015 as a bold initiative has grown into a national force for manufacturing innovation, workforce advancement, and economic resilience,” said Chad Duty, CEO of IACMI. “Today, that momentum is stronger than ever.”
Key achievements outlined in A Decade of Innovation: IACMI’s Impact include:
Establishing shared infrastructure in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee to accelerate research and commercialization.
Launching national workforce programs with the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to address the 4.6 million projected open manufacturing jobs.
Catalyzing public-private partnerships to strengthen supply chains and boost technology readiness levels.
Nearly 300 members gathered in Dayton, Ohio, June 24–26, to mark the institute’s 10th anniversary and chart the path ahead.
