Avient Corporation's Dyneema brand has launched a revolutionary upgrade to its high-performance composite fabrics,
offering 10x abrasion resistance, 5x tear strength, and 34% weight savings.
Dyneema , owned by Avient Corporation and known for engineering the
world s strongest fiber , has introduced its most advanced fabric to date: Dyneema
Woven Composites. By increasing the number of Dyneema layers, the material
now delivers unprecedented levels of performance across abrasion resistance,
tear strength, and weight reduction. This dual-layer innovation combines a 100%
Dyneema abrasion-resistant woven face with a Dyneema composite core.
With its roots in ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE),
Dyneema remains 15 times stronger than steel and is light enough to
float on water. The new woven composites retain this legendary strength while
elevating durability under extreme load and prolonged use.
This breakthrough redefines what s possible with high-performance
fabrics, said Chiharu Pidgeon, Global Business Manager for Dyneema
Fabrics & Composites. Through precision-layered construction, we re
delivering a material that stands up to the world s most demanding
environments.
In partnership with Hyperlite Mountain Gear, Dyneema tested the
new material over two years in harsh conditions ranging from the Alaskan
wilderness to the Rocky Mountains. The prototype backpacks, tested by elite
outdoor athletes, confirmed the material s superior real-world performance.
Hyperlite Mountain Gear will be the first to bring products made with
Dyneema Woven Composites to market, starting July 15, 2025, setting a
new benchmark in the outdoor gear industry.
