In a move poised to transform sustainable manufacturing, CompPair has unveiled its HealTech technology, an ultra-fast repair
solution engineered to dramatically extend
the life cycle of composite structures.
HealTech is integrated into semi-finished products for manufacturing
composites via Liquid Composite Moulding (LCM) and prepreg processes.
The technology enables in situ repair of
matrix microcracks without additional resources or intensive manual labour.
When activated by heat between 100 150 C,
the healing process restores full mechanical integrity in just one to two minutes, consistently recovering 100% of structural performance
while maintaining the original weight and profile.
This fast, autonomous repair solution aligns with the principles of
waste prevention and resource efficiency and has demonstrated broad
applicability across the sports, mobility, and aerospace sectors.
Beyond microcracks, HealTech is engineered to address a range of composite damage, including delamination, which is a critical
failure that compromises load transfer and overall structural integrity. Using
rapid thermal activation, the system enables almost instant restoration of
mechanical properties without the need for manual patching or secondary
processes. Components can be repaired directly on site and returned to service
immediately, avoiding costly downtime and extending operational life.
By embedding ultra-fast repair within composites, HealTech offers a powerful alternative to conventional repair methods, which are often time-consuming and resource-intensive, a CompPair spokesperson noted. This technology is a practical step toward making circularity a reality across high-performance industries.
