Sustainable motorsport materials leader Bcomp has
partnered with Japanese composite specialist Tras to produce racing
bodywork made entirely from natural fibre composites for Suzuki Motor
Corporation s factory race team, Team SUZUKI CN CHALLENGE. The 2025
GSX-R1000R competing in the FIM Endurance World Championship s Suzuka 8
Hours will feature fenders, winglets, and fairings manufactured from Bcomp s ampliTex
and powerRibs technologies.
Tras, a long-term collaborator with Suzuki s motorsport
teams, first introduced Bcomp s materials in prototype MotoGP bodywork for the
Suzuki ECSTAR team. The success of that technical demonstration paved the way
for race-ready components in the CN CHALLENGE machine, which aligns with the
team s Carbon Neutral mission.
Both ampliTex and powerRibs harness the natural properties
of flax fibres to deliver lightweight components with high stiffness, excellent
damping, and up to 85% lower cradle-to-gate CO emissions compared to
carbon fibre, while offering viable end-of-life solutions. The team s
sustainability focus also extends to 100% sustainable fuel,
recycled-content tyres, bio-sourced engine oil, and an eco-friendly titanium
muffler.
Officials from Suzuki Motorsports, Tras, and Bcomp praised
the collaboration as a proof point that top-tier motorsport performance and
sustainability can coexist, with plans to expand the use of natural
fibre composites across future racing applications.
