Materials
has become the first syntactic foam subsea buoyancy materials manufacturer to
secure full DNV
Type Approval (TAC) across its complete portfolio of Subtec
buoyancy materials, reinforcing its status as a global leader
in high-performance subsea solutions.
The certification follows an extensive testing programme conducted
by DNV,
the world s leading classification society, and sets a new benchmark for quality
assurance and performance consistency in subsea buoyancy
technology. With all seven Subtec grades now fully type approved, covering
operational depths from 2,000 to 11,500 metres, customers are assured that
every material meets the highest international standards.
This milestone builds on the company s earlier type approval for Subtec 11500
in November 2024, designed for ultra-deepwater use. The Subtec range,
produced using high-grade hollow glass microspheres and a novel
thermoset polymer matrix, offers densities from 400 650 kg/m , ultra-high
strength-to-weight ratios, and excellent water ingress resistance.
Achieving type approval across the full Subtec range is a major
industry first and one we re extremely proud of, said Stephen Sloan,
Head of Commercial at Base Materials.
With DNV type approval and Approval of Manufacture now in place, we offer the
most comprehensively certified suite of syntactic buoyancy materials on the
market.
