The American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) proudly concluded its most successful Composites Fly-In to date, held June 10–12, 2025, in Washington, D.C. Nearly 100 industry leaders from across the country gathered in the nation’s capital to advocate for the composites sector, setting a new attendance record and underscoring growing momentum around composites policy engagement.

Over three days, attendees conducted more than 80 Congressional meetings with lawmakers and staff from both chambers, effectively elevating the voice of the composites industry. Participants discussed critical issues, including the importance of sound tax policy to drive innovation, the need for a science-based approach to styrene evaluation, and the impact of tariffs and supply chain challenges on domestic manufacturing of advanced materials.

The event featured a robust lineup of expert speakers and federal officials. Notably, Nancy Beck, Ph.D., DABT, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), provided insights on chemical regulation under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a long-time advocate for composites in clean energy and infrastructure, also addressed the group.

A key highlight was the launch of ACMA’s “Smart Policy, Smarter Materials” campaign, aimed at preventing regulations that could impede innovation and growth. The initiative underscores the essential role of styrene-based composites in transportation, infrastructure, and clean energy while calling for regulatory decisions grounded in sound science.

“Our 2025 Fly-In showcased the strength and unity of our industry—and the unmatched opportunities ACMA provides for our members to engage directly with key decision makers in Washington,” said Cindy Squires, Esq., ACMA President & CEO. “We brought together an exceptional slate of speakers and created a powerful platform for industry leaders to connect face-to-face with policymakers shaping the future of composites.”
